identity crisis

I just saw a commercial that opened with the following line: "If you think that identity theft only happens to other people, then don't watch this commercial." I wouldn't have watched the commercial, but it would've taken too much effort to find the remote. Their point, presumably, was that it can happen to me...but then they proceeded to show a person that wasn't me talking about how his identity had been stolen. I could easily tell it wasn't me, and was not convinced by the commercial that it could happen to me. So I guess next time the commercial comes on, I won't have to watch it because I'll know that they weren't being sarcastic - identity theft really does only happen to other people.
