damn you, axminster!

A villain is only truly successful if he:

  • Strikes fear into the hearts of his foes
  • Is purely bloodthirsty with no remorse
  • Is incessantly persistent
  • Has an incredible name

Enter Axminster, the unbelievably fantastic arch-nemesis found in the tenth episode of MacGyver's first season. He meets all the necessary enemy criteria and exceeds each in his own hilarious way. Axminster, a deadly assassin who is fond of peanuts, is sent to kill MacGyver in the mountains. He brings only an AK-47-toting posse, a couple of Jeeps, and his finest sunglasses. Despite the name "Axminster" being said at least fifteen times throughout the 50-minute episode, Axminster never returns in a follow-up episode to continue his normal Axminsterish shenanigans. Instead, Murdoc picks up that mantle and does a respectable job. Video after the break... Without further ado, I present a labor of love: It's Axminster! (high-quality link), a tribute to a character eliminated before his rightful time. The clip compilation is only two minutes long and won't hurt anyone to watch it. • sorry, dog. havent watched it yet.

  • i should retract the it wont hurt anyone to watch it statement; apparently, the video can give you nightmares.

  • A fine video, but I dont think it proves your point. Damn fine though. Did you edit it together yourself?

  • Yeah, but I didnt have to do muchit follows the MacGyver episode pretty closely. Truly an amazing episode. If only they were all such high caliber.

  • (exhaustedly) Damn you, Axminster.

  • My partner and I died when we saw this video you made. It was truly perfect. We had just watched the episode Targe MacGyver and were confused by the lead villains name: Did he just call him Axminster? Is Axminster even a name? , etc and we started laughing EVERY time Axminster was uttered. And when Mac sat on the ground cradling his grandfather and proclaimed: Damn you Axminster!! the deal was sealed for us. We couldnt hear the name without laughing our faces off. We LOLd when we saw your video. How can I share it?

  • Ha, well I didnt upload it to YouTube because I didnt want Paramount getting mad at me, and I wanted to direct the traffic here. So you can share it on various services by using the little icons immediately below the post, or you can just share a link to this page. You could also download the high-quality version from the link in the post, if youre interested. Really, there are ways to see the direct URL of the .flv file, which you could embed in a webpage.

Your story is exactly what I was hoping to hear by making this. Its such an hilarious episode.

  • well thank you for all the info. yes, we were thrilled someone out there in the world got it the same way we did. If I ever met one of the writers I would ask them about Axminster and how they came up with such a bad ass/amazing name!
